Gibraltar Broadcasting Corporation’s GBC Open Day 2024 takes place on Thursday 12 December. In a tradition dating back to the 1960s, it ranks as Gibraltar’s biggest annual charity event all of it benefitting local charities. Thanks to its annual pre-Christmas fundraiser, and millions of pounds raised over the years, last year’s grand total of £197,539 was another record.

Acquarius and its staff have supported the Open Day for several years. We like to do so, not only because it is a good thing to do but it is fun and is in aid of an excellent cause. A prosperous city Gibraltar may be, but as everywhere there is far too much hardship locally. The annual GBC Open Day draws attention to those less fortunate than us. The campaign is conducted through its TV, radio and online channels and Acquarius is proud to be involved once again.

For the second year running, Acquarius staff are preparing and delivering Sweet Treat Boxes to raise money for the Open Day. Costing £25 each, the boxes will be delivered by close of business on December 10^th. They will each contain eight items taken from a wide selection of mouth-watering cakes and traditional seasonal favourites such as mantecados, rosquitas and pestiños. Adding to the festive fun, the content selection is not guaranteed so surprises are in each box and all the items are home baked by Acquarius staff and their families.

A small committee consisting of Georgia Severs, Camille Benezrah and Zyna Smith are spearheading the initiative. All members of Team Acquarius have been encouraged to participate either by baking, packing or delivering the boxes or otherwise donating to the overall effort. This year, the committee aims to sell seventy boxes representing an impressive contribution to GBC’s Open Day appeal.

We at Acquarius want to do our part in giving back to the Community and raising funds every year for the great cause that is GBC Open Day, but this would not be possible without the generosity of the team. The Open Day is yet another example of Acquarius expanding its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) commitments year on year. The firm’s overall approach has raised Acquarius’ social profile locally, culminating in the recent nomination for the Startup Grind CSR Excellence award.
