Tamara Skillicorn

Company Manager

Tamara joined Acquarius in November 2022.

Tamara is a highly skilled individual with a specialism with all operational and compliance matters. Tamara is able to see the perspective of business and growth versus the operational practicalities and the requirements of a regulated firm and being able to highlight to co-Directors possible regulatory complications in the future. Using the Gibraltar Fund and Investment Association (GFIA) Corporate Governance Code as the basis of her representations as an Experienced Investor Fund (EIF) Director and with other Boards positions, Tamara enjoys challenging proposals and requesting necessary further evidence and information prior to casting a vote.

Tamara has a BSc Hons Mathematics with Statistics degree from Lancaster University. Her early career path took her into the field of stockbroking and investments, having obtained Part 1 of the IOC from The Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment (previously the IAQ). Her positions in back-office securities and settlements with various Stockbrokers, Investment Houses and Life Assurance companies provided a sound grounding in all aspects of securities handling including equities, bonds, derivatives, mergers & acquisitions, corporate actions, and structuring and SICAV fund NAV calculations.

The ever evolving fast paced work environment led to project management, where Tamara was able to leverage her skills in problem solving, analytical thinking, internal control implementation, back-office portfolio management control and compliance, risk assessment, and corporate management. This ultimately led to Tamara being appointed as the Compliance Manager and MLRO of the Fund Administration arm of a major Bank and was additionally approved by the Isle of Man Financial Supervision Commission as MLRO for a Licensed Managed (Fund) Manager.

On returning to Gibraltar with her family, she took on a role with a Corporate Services Provider. Tamara has 20 years’ experience in Corporate Secretarial Services, Corporate Management, Corporate Governance and Regulatory Compliance, as a Director, Senior Compliance Officer and MLRO, Approved Class CIII Company Manager (Directorships), EIF Director, Head of Compliance and MLRO of a Law Firm and advisory on EIF, Private Fund, DLT Platform & ICO Compliance.

When not in the office Tamara enjoys telling her husband (see Andrew Skillicorn) what to do and using her free chauffeur service.

Outside of work, Tamara enjoys spending time with her children, is a cinema fan, avid F1 follower, enjoys swimming, travel, art, baking and attending live music festivals.
