Oliver Andlaw

Oliver is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, with over 20 years professional experience advising on a wide range of both private and corporate client matters.
He was appointed to the board of Acquarius Trust Group in 2013. Since then he has been advising on and assisting with the establishment of Gibraltar based businesses and the implementation of corporate and personal structures. His specialisms include statutory and management accounting, back office outsourcing, corporate and personal taxation, corporate finance, company valuations and structured investments/financial promotions including UK venture capital Schemes (VCT, EIS, SEIS), Unregulated collective Investment Schemes (UCIS) and Fintech.
Oliver currently serves as vice chair to the Association of Trust and Company Managers (ATCOM) the Gibraltar body representing the industry’s interest in the Finance Centre Council and engaging Government and public interest bodies on a wide range of relevant matters. Most recently he has been heavily involved with the most recent transposition of the fifth Anti Money Laundering Directive, DAC 6 and the drafting of the sections of the National Risk Assessments relevant to the Trust and Company Management sector.
He began his career in the Private Client division of Chiltern Plc (now BDO) one of the then largest specialist tax consultancies in the UK, where he trained as an accountant. He gained an invaluable foundation to his career accounting for private client structures both (UK) domestic and international, including limited companies, entrepreneurial trades, partnerships, LLPs, personal portfolios and trusts.
Over the course of his career he then went on to work for MRI Moores Rowland LLP where he headed an outsourced Ultra High Net Worth family office which included managing and accounting for the worldwide estate and commercial interests of internationally renowned singer Sting and the back book royalties of the Police. He then moved to the international accounting firm Mazars LLP where he worked in the London office and specialised in Corporate Finance, initially Film and Media financing and then lead advisory and company valuations to the finance sector with particular focus on the insurance broking market.
Oliver is able to offer clients a balance of professional expertise gained through private practice with commercialism gained as a finance director in Industry. As finance director of Goldcrest Films he was responsible for designing strategies and managing over 40 investment vehicles (including 17 Plcs) that raised over £100m in equity and debt and originated, structured and closed transactions with counterparties such as Dreamworks Pictures, Paramount Pictures, Pathe UK, Lions Gate UK and Summit Entertainment. Investments included (amongst others) 4 top spots at the US box office (Twilight, Knowing, Eagle Eye and Tropic Thunder),The Iron Lady, starring Meryl Streep and the film adaptation of the bestselling book The lovely Bones.
Before moving to Gibraltar in 2016 Oliver established a boutique accountancy practice specialising in outsourced financial management services, amongst a number of clients he advised Raindog films which recently released the film Eye in the Sky starring Helen Mirren and Alan Rickman.
He continues to retain an interest and specialism in media and technology and serves as a director of Sira Productions which recently, in partnership with Silver Reel, released the film Unlocked (staring Orlando Bloom, Michael Douglas and John Malkovich).
As Managing and Finance Director at Acquarius Trust Group, Oliver is responsible for leading our highly professional team with the support of the Board and with particular oversight of the Client Accounting division.
Drawing on his wealth of experience his client activities include:
- Advice on the establishment and management of corporate vehicles and efficient structures in Gibraltar.
- Assistance with the drafting of business plans, financial models and investor opportunities
- Business establishment advice in Gibraltar including, corporate establishment, negotiating premises, trade and regulatory licencing and the employment of staff.
- Advice on setting up and management of back office structure including accounting and administrative processes, financial management, systems, and regulatory controls
- Advice on Gibraltar taxation and consolidation of third party international tax advice.
- Project management of complex international advisory projects, and consolidation of multi-advisor projects.
- Investment appraisal and fiduciary decision making
Oliver sits on the board of a number of client companies and as the primary representative of our corporate director and trustee.
When not in the office, Oliver is generally found with his wife, his three young children and his dog. When he gets a moment, he is known to show a passion for food and entertaining as well as friendship, laughter and rugby!
